SQL Database Management and Design equips practitioners with advanced techniques for building relational databases from foundational queries to schema design. Covers core principles of SQL query commands, union operations, aggregation functions, and entity relationship modeling. Examines proven methods for multi-table joins, transaction management, and ACID properties. Helps professionals normalize tables, optimize data selection, and design robust database architectures for reliable information systems.
The aim of this course is to provide a clear understanding of the use of SQL for different
databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MS Access...). Understanding of analytic functions and the
way how to join different tables in a database will help delegates to move data analysis
operations to the database side, instead of doing this in MS Excel application. This can also
help in creating any IT system, which uses any relational database.
This SQL training course is for people who want to gain the necessary skills to extract and analyse data from any database and create reports. Course members will learn:
how to write SQL queries
what relational databases are and how we can use them
what are relations and how to create them
the structure of data
differences between SQL dialects (Oracle, T-SQL, ANSI)
practical skills for writing queries
This SQL course deals with generic ANSI SQL. It can be used in any database, including Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, DB2, Informix, PostgreSQL any other relational databases.
Writing efficient SQL queries against Microsoft SQL Server builds the foundation behind every enterprise data pipeline. Explores core techniques starting with relational database models, then progresses through data retrieval, filtering, sorting, and aggregation using grouping functions and subqueries. Guides participants through multi-table joins, set operators, DML operations, and transaction control to extract and manipulate business intelligence datasets reliably.

Gunnar adjusted the content for the second day based on our feedback from day one. He checked in with us to find out what we liked, disliked, found hard and how we wanted to approach day 2.
I liked Gunnar's style of teaching: Lecture, share examples, allowed us time to practice and answer questions before moving to the next subject. It meant we could fully understand a topic before moving onto the next subject. This reduced overload of information and gave us a chance to spend more time on the topics we struggled with and less time on the stuff we found easy.
